Experience the thrill and excitement of grilling while tailgating

You can experience the thrill and excitement of grilling while tailgating in many ways but you must consider the most important thing, keeping micro-organism such as germs and bacteria away from the food you will take with you.

Most of the time, when you are planning to do grilling while tailgating, you put most of your effort in planning the event that you forget the first and most important concern you should consider. Most of the time, food contamination spoils your food. So here are some reminders for you to consider:

  • You should carefully plan ahead of time. In order for you not to meet problem when grilling while tailgating, you must make a list of everything you need from equipment, utensils and foods. You can bring with you a portable grill stand for foods to be grilled on and don't forget your charcoals. Do not also forget to bring a trash bags. Avoid littering, double check everything and make sure they are packed the night before the outing.
  • Choose food carefully. Choose food from an array of nutrition foods. For meat, make sure that they are fresh from the slaughter house with the seal of government meat inspector for fishes to be grilled. During your grilling while tailgating, choose fishes that are fresh from fish cage.  Some signs of freshness are shiny eyes, red gills and shiny scales or if possible buy those that are alive. For fruits and vegetables be sure that they are fresh. Keep all food chilled to avoid contamination. Separate raw foods from cooked foods. For fruits and vegetables you can do it ahead of time. You can prepare them the night before and put it inside an airtight container then chill it. In grilling while tailgating, you can sack up your car the night before the outing because grilling while tailgating is usually done away from your home. Eggs and mayonnaise base salad should not exceed the 24 hours storing period so prepare it at least one hour before the trip.
  • Cook the food safely. All the foods that you take with you in your grilling while tailgating party should be cooked safely. Meat and fishes to be grilled should be fresh and clean and should be grilled properly until well done or cooked. Meat and fishes that are not well cooked are susceptible to micro-organism. In cooking and preparing foods, be sure to clean and sanitize your hands. Remember to keep hot foods, hot and cold foods chilled. Grilled food should be out of the steaming grill when it is time to eat to keep the freshness of the food.

With a little planning, grilling while tailgating is fun and exciting. Always use your common sense when planning one so that you can experience the thrill. Most of all do not leave your trash behind. Dispose them properly.

Here's what our members are saying ...

"My wife recently gave me a couple of The Grilling Coach's DVDs - SOUTHERN, SMOKED, GLAZED HAM on the GRILL and REAL SOUTHERN BARBEQUE.  All the recipes are, in a word, outstanding!  The step-by-step instructions are skillfully explained at a pace that's easy to follow and understand.  I've been smoke cooking and making my own sausage for almost 40 years; and, I know my way around the kitchen.  Believe me when I tell you - you'll love these DVDs."
