MEDITERRANEAN BURGERS

Ingredients:

Yogurt sauce
1 lb ground beef
2 tbsp red wine
1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
2 tsp ground cumin
1/3 tsp kosher salt
dash  ground red pepper
dash fresh ground black pepper
Pita bread
lettuce
chopped tomatoes

Directions:

Prepare yogurt sauce.

Soak 4 bamboo skewers in water. Combine ground beef, wine, oregano, cumin, salt, red pepper and black pepper in  medium bowl; mix lightly. Divide mixture into eight equal portions; form each portion into an oval shape, each about  4-5 inches long. Cover; chill 30 minutes.

Preheat grill. Insert skewers lengthwise through centers of ovals, placing 2 on each skewer. Grill about 8-10  minutes or to desired doneness, turning once. Fill pita bread with lettuce, meat and chopped tomatoes. Serve with yogurt sauce.

YOGURT SAUCE:

2 cups plain yogurt
1 cup chopped red onion
1 cup chopped cucumber
1/3 cup chopped fresh mint
1 tbsp chopped fresh  marjoram

Combine ingredients in a small bowl. Cover; chill up to  4 hours before serving.
