BASIC GAS GRILL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BASIC GAS GRILL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Lighting Your Grill
1.Raise the lid before lighting.
2.Be sure control knobs are set at Off. Turn the gas supply tank to ON.
3.Set control knob to High.
4.Quickly push the igniter button a few times. Grill should ignite within 5 seconds. If you do not have an igniter button, quickly light through the lighting hole with a match or approved gas grill igniter.
5.With twin-burner grills, turn on one side only while lighting. When the first burner is lit, the other side should ignite automatically when you turn on the control knob.
If the burner does not ignite, turn the control knob to Off, wait 5 minutes for the gas to dissipate, and try again.
Preheating the Grill
Always preheat the grill with the lid closed before using. However, be sure to raise the lid before lighting. Set the control knob on High for 5 to 10 minutes. The grill broils better when the lava rocks are hot because the grease dripping on them flares up and imparts that great barbecue flavor to the meat.
Adjusting the Lid Position
Most gas grills can be operated with the cover completely closed or opened, or at varying levels of partial opening. A closed lid will provide a smokier flavor, but with some foods you may prefer leaving the lid slightly open to allow excessive smoke to escape. Of course, with the lid closed the food will cook faster using less gas, and you will be able to maintain the appropriate cooking temperature.
